Attention WipEout pre-order pilot!
In November 2023, Read-Only Memory asked whether you’d be interested in owning a copy of a book about the creation and legacy of the WipEout series. You clearly not only said ‘Yes’ but did so pretty sharpish, since the entire Special Edition run of just one thousand copies was reserved within days.
Creating the definitive illustrated history of a cult videogame that fused high-speed racing with pounding electronic music was never going to be a two-minute job. Many years in the making prior to launching pre-orders, the finish line of WipEout: Futurism now finally coming into view, so we thought we’d share with you a glimpse at what will soon be landing on your doorstep…
These images depict a handmade prototype of the clamshell box that will contain your custom cover book, featuring a wrap-around holofoil pattern created from the typeface that Studio. Build created especially for this book. With this last component approved (with much excitement), full production has begun, with copies on-track to arrive at our UK warehouse in November.

I’m so excited for this. Recently been recreating some TDR Wipeout logos from scratch in Affinity, and blown away by the simple complexities of them all. Appreciate and respect the work that’s gone into the games over time, but the quality and commitment required for the book too, as it looks like it’s matching the same level of detail. Top work to all involved!

Wow, you’d expect something of this calibre to have a couple major delays. I would’ve been okay with that but it’s nice to know that probably won’t be the case here since drafting began as early as it did. And it looks great.
