Testing, proofing and printing
Dear Type Archived supporter,
We are here to share another update with you on the production of Type Archived. While deep in the proofing process, Richard and the team have been making great progress on selecting and testing the right paper, materials and colours fitting for this amazing publication.
As the works with the standard edition are progressing, Richard has also been busy working with letterpress maestro Alan Kitching to print the dust jackets for Engineering the Word, the special letterpress edition which accompanies Type Archived in the Collector’s Set.
Alan’s design shows a scattered alphabet, each character from a different fount of wood-letter, with the arrangement spelling out ‘Type Archive’ (ingeniously sharing the E). They unveiled the design together during Alan’s talk for the Justin Howes Memorial Lecture held at St Bride Foundation on 10 April.
We are looking forward to sharing more developments with you as this stage of production comes to a close in the following weeks.
