Thank you from Chris Ashworth

Hi people!

Well I can’t thank you all enough for giving me the chance to get my pet project greenlit.

205% funded is a goal I never thought possible. For me it’s about getting the story of human creativity out there to as many (young and old) people as possible, so you’ve really helped me achieve that.

I received a couple of book dummies this week, too, so it’s all feeling very real, which is quite the shift after all these years of chipping away at it late in the evenings. I’m especially looking forward to the next phase of this project where I can see (and smell) the proofs and watch this thing finally come alive.

In related news, I hit the storage unit yesterday and found the boxes of work from my archive that will kickstart the next book, Swiss Grit Vol 1 – covering the first phase of my career from 1990 to 1997, including Blah Blah Blah magazine, MTV and Interference.

Thank you again.

Swiss Grit Chris

I can’t explain how excited i am to have your book in my collection. I’m an art teacher and show your work to my students regularly to inspire their own work, so having a book in the classroom that they can have a nose through is going to be next level i’m sure. Thanks for all the art Chris! And good luck!

I don’t think I’ve been this excited since Christmas Eve when I was 7.

Can’t wait to receive your book man, always loved your work the best, better than that guy name Fabian Blah Blah!🤣🤣🤣
Are you going to make some stickers like you did for Blah Blah back in days? Also maybe a Tee….😆

Peace out!

Heck yeahhhh!!! I’m so stoked to be apart of this project and your next book as well. I’m a huge fan and have to shout out Chris Do because without him I wouldn’t have found you in such a meaningful way.

I love your art and it influences my own in both graphic and audio mediums. For that authentic emotion I thank you greatly.

Wishing you and yours continued success!

Chris,

First of all, congratulations for achieving your goal, and then some! It shows how much people appreciate your work and the influence it has given to so many designers out there. Second, I look forward to receiving this book and taking in everything it has. Your work and your “Swiss Grit” style is inspiring and teaches me and others to think outside of the box. This book is going to be a centerpiece in my collection for sure.

Hi Chris,

Congrats on your book I can’t wait to check it out. Your typography and approach to hands-on, creative work have inspired me more than you’ll ever know. On December 3rd, 2019, I received my issue of Monster Children with your feature in it, it was also my deceased mother’s birthday and the day I started immunotherapy (after 16 rounds of chemotherapy) that would eventually save my life from stage 4 colon cancer. Nearly five years later, I’m still pursuing my passion for typography, design, and Letraset and have been invited to share my typography pursuits at our local Petcha Kutcha event. I’ll be sharing how you inspired my journey, along with examples of my pursuit. Forever Inspired!

The first book dedicated to the career of a truly hands-on graphic designer, charting his ‘Swiss Grit’ approach from the influential Ray Gun magazine in the 1990s, through to his experimental type projects of the present day
