Disorder now printing

Dear backers,

We’re delighted to let you know that Disorder is now officially on press, having successfully gone through all of the proofing stages. We have just approved the ‘folded and gathered’ (F&G) pages from the printer and all finishes are now agreed.

As part of this update we thought we’d also give you a brief rundown of what’s inside the book!

Disorder opens with not one but two introductions written by Chris Ashworth, before the first of three extensive chapters detailing his work on Ray Gun begins. The first chapter covers January 1997 to June 1998, before moving into a conversation between Ashworth and Ray Gun founder, Marvin Scott Jarrett.

The next two Ray Gun chapters cover the issues that came out between July 1998 and June 2001. Then the book turns to Ashworh’s work in book design and music packaging, before spotlighting his renowned photographs of type in the wild, his Sound in Print artworks and Typewriter Sketches, plus apparel designs for his Thisisme.art website. An afterword, Grit and Grunge vs Digital Hygiene by Adrian Shaughnessy, concludes the book.

Disorder contains 488 pages and each of the hundreds of images featured, be it a ground-breaking cover or spread from Ray Gun, a Letraset type experiment, or a photo of a SyQuest cartridge (he has kept everything!), is accompanied by a detailed caption.

We are very excited for you to see this book – and again would like to say thank you for helping us to make it a reality.
