Campaign unsuccessful

Dear glitch hunter,

Our campaign for ANY%: A History of Speedrunning has come to an end and, with a heavy heart – and despite everyone’s efforts – we did not reach our funding goal. Although this wasn’t the outcome we were hoping for, we remain deeply grateful to each of you for believing in the project and supporting it from the outset.

We also want to extend our sincere thanks to author Kat Brewster for her exceptional work in developing this book. Through extensive research and steadfast dedication, Kat succeeded in crafting a detailed history that explored the origins, evolution and community of speedrunning in all its forms. Her vision for the book captured the spirit of what makes speedrunning – and its passionate community – so captivating. We’d love to come back to this book in the future – we loved Kat’s proposal and the designs we developed with Mytil from l’Atelier Muesli... but for now we'll gracefully retire the project and focus on our upcoming videogame tomes.

All backers will be fully refunded in the coming days. If you have any questions about your pledge or the status of your refund, please feel free to reach out to us at hello@vol.co and we’ll get right back to you.

Thank you again for being part of this crowdfunding campaign. Although this project didn’t hit its goal, we’re not slowing down – as mentioned, we have plenty more exciting books in the works at Read-Only Memory, and we look forward to sharing these projects with you soon.

It’s always sad to see a great project not coming to reality. I hope the project will pop up again later. For sure I will be part of the train again

Gutted!! This book would have been so so good and the collector’s edition would have been so special. Really hope you guys are able to make this one a reality someday.

On Argick commented:

Damn, sounded like a really great idea and loved the previews of the book. Went with the special edition version as it would have been something truely special in the speedrunning community.

Fingers crossed that maybe one day there’s a way to fund it and it’ll become a reality.

Absolutely gutted. The book looked fantastic, had loads of great insights, and the special design version would have made for a fantastic collectors item. I hope you find a way to fund this, as I’d still love to own this book one day.

This makes me so sad, as I find speedrunning such a fascinating subject.
